Pho Minh Pagoda

Situated in Tuc Mac village, Loc Vuong commune, in the suburbs of Nam Dinh, Pho Minh Pagoda is located 94 kilometres from Hanoi and four kilometres from Nam Dinh.

This large pagoda was built during the Ly dynasty, and was later expanded in 1262 during the Tran dynasty. Next to the pagoda is water pavilion, a pond with lotus flowers and ancient trees. A bronze tripod weighing over seven tonnes sits in front of the pagoda. The architectural works executed during the Tran dynasty include 96 large lotus sculptures, as well as many squirrel and dragon sculptures. There is also a 13-storey lotus tower, 21 metres high. The base and first floor of the tower were constructed with flagstones and upper floors were built with bricks.
