Phuc Lam Pagoda

 

The pagoda, often called Chan Tien pagoda, is located at 151 Ba Trieu street, Le Dai Hanh ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi.

It was built in the 19th century. According to documents kept at the pagoda, it was built in the Ly times and named Bao Thien pagoda with the most famous Bao Thien stupa in the then Thang Long capital. It was damaged by wars and moved to other places. It was moved to the present location in the late 19th century. The nameChan Tien is a compound of Chan Cam hamlet and Chung Tien temple.

Bhikkhuni Thich Nu Dam Luan, the head from 1954 until now, had it enlarged in recent years. The main hall is solemnly decorated. Here  many precious 19th century statues are kept.

The pagoda is recognised as one of the national historical-cultural vestiges by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
