Long Tong festival
Tug-of-war.
The Long Tong (going to the field) festival was held by Tay ethnic minority group in Tin Keo on the first days of the lunar New Year 2002. Villagers prepared offerings to worship the Emperor Shen Nong after the crops had been collected. The wizard (Tao) was trusted to pray for nice weather for the next crops.
Lion dance.
The festival included many cultural activities such as lion dance, road clearing, troop placement, con ball throwing, cross-bow shooting, walking on stilts, tug-of-war and others. The festival took place in the ATK (safety zone) historical relic in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen northern province. Much effort has been made to restore the festival to help local people learn more about the nation's cultural identity and history.
